I have read the info on the digipower and the mahapower bank. I cannot get the digipower folks to confirm their battery pack is compatable with the FZ20 although I noticed they are updating their web site so maybe have some new info coming out. I have read that lots and lots of people have posted the DP 9000 works great with the FZ20 but I dont really like the say it hangs off the camera with the cable there too. I prefer the powerbank with the belt clip and the power pack out of the way. That doesnt look too complicated but overall I really need something that give me the most about of battery life since I am traveling and dont want to run out.
I am wondering if anyone knows which powerbank would be for the FZ20 the 2200mAh 7.2V or the 1800mAh 6V.....Here is the link.

I am also wondering if anyone knows of a wireless external pack that is available?
Thanks,
Cat

First let me say that the DPS 9000 is 100% compatible with all the FZ cameras. You just use the cable marked DP-1U
There are lots of us using them. And most of us have been using them for over 2 years.
If you want to put the pack in your pocket just make the wire longer.
I would imagine the other pack you mention will work if it comes with a 4.7mm plug and you would need the 7.2 volt pack.

any thoughts why the brain wizzards at digi and places like ritz camera where they sell them wont say its compatable with the Panasonic?

My Guess.
Panasonic was not making 7.2 volt cameras when they printed the description.
Someone said a few months ago that the New DPS9000 would clip on the belt but who knows.
Here is a phone number for digipower, let us know what you find out.

Yes, I can vouch for that. I own the DPS 9000 and it works fine with my FZ20.

See the post from SSIDLOV in the Battery Sticky at the top of the forum - he's got the new Powerbank 2200, and it seems to work for him.
I think the thing to look for is the 7.2 v supply.
I'm intrigued by the concept of a wireless power source. What did you have in mind?

I use the DPS-9000 all the time. The power pack attaches to the camera with it's tripod screw. Then the tripod attaches to the power pack thus making a sandwich: FZ20- Power pack-tripod. Hand held just the camera and the power pack. Gene led me to the DPS. A short wire goes to the AC input [pg 11]
I set up the camera-power pack-tripod focused on my bird feeder and sit nearby and have coffee waiting for a bird to get in range. Use a wireless shutter control so I can be at any distance from the camera. Also have a hand held TV attached to the AV output to see what is on the LCD monitor. Need a longer wire now. Wireless in the future.
The DSp is 7.2 volts as required by the FZ20. At the time I bought it no one said it was compatible FZ20 except those in this forum.

StanStan,
Do you have a picture of your setup? Could you post it? I'm really curious. :)

This is probably different than the way Stan does it but there are a couple photos here

StanStan,

The picture came out larger than I expected but it does show all the details:
My bracket is attached to the FZ20 by an Allen screw.
The DPS 900 is screwed onto the bracket at the center of gravity.
There are a series of tapped hose for my different lens/camera stacks. I do not like the
camera to be nose heavy. I like it to balanced over the tripod.
I put a rubber washer onto the DSP 9000 to give the stack a little more
rigidity.
Then I screwed the tripod quick release onto the DSP 9000
You can see the 'remaining power' indicators. Green: fully charged; three
red, and a yellow for almost exhausted. Press the black button to get the
light to turn on to see remaining power level. Very nice.
There must be an easy way to size pictures for this column!

Please let me know.
Thanks

If there were true wirless power supplies, I would have jumped on that bandwagon for more than just my digital camera ;) Then again, I'd probably also have ocean front property in Arizona to sell too.
