Ok, where's your favorite place to go on vacation? No, not where you want to drag all your camera equipment, but rather where the whole family likes to go.
We love Las Vegas. Three trips out there and planning a fourth! This is my daughter outside the old Atlas dish just outside the main doors of the MGM Grand hotel (before they remodeled the front).

Hey the wife and I'll be there May 29 ~ June 3 with a side trip to the Grand Canyon. Staying @ the Bellagio.

You'll love it and it's so fun and inexpensive! If you do the Grand Canyon, you have to stop at the Hoover Damn. It only takes about three hours to tour since they don't allow the hard-hat tour anymore. This was from a helicopter ride on the second trip out there. I think the ride cost the three of us (went with my brothers) about $75.00 each. Well worth it. You have to go up on the Stratosphere. Best place to take pictures of the Vegas strip, especially at night.

very hot there in the summer! also everything metalic or people you touch when it's dry out will give you a static shock. i prefer the fall months, with a side benefit of 75% less crowds. :)
Seattle waterfront and skyline, as seen from the ferry to Bainbridge Island.

Dusy Basin, in California's high Sierra (that's me in the photo...someone else took this one!).

This is Las Vegas. Not my no.1 ideal holiday resort - but it was very interesting!!. This pic shouldn't have worked. I'm on a coach, it's dark. Ok photo details: - ASA 100, 1/3rd sec with AS, F3.2, 61mm equive focal length, white balnce Tungsten, -1ev. (that should be enough info). I think anyone wavering over AS, or IS whatever different manufacturers call it - should go for it - it's great!!

Thanks kornhauser, there are a few more at my pic site.
BTW I have borrowed your Hoover Dam shot for my home collection as we didn't get that sort of a view when we visited - is that OK
Keep the photos coming!

Actually May/June is still relatively cool, maybe in the low to mid 90's (as it is here). The Canyon should be in the mid 60's to low 70's. Keep in mind that the South Rim is at 6500 feet.
From past experience the lower crowd rate in Vegas is actually in the summer. Vegas room rates get cheaper in July and August for a reason. ;)
Monteray, California....

Monterray, California....
Great pictures. Thanks.
Monterey...My home town. A great place to grow up. The first couple of shots are Cannery Row.
The next 3 are the marina between the Commecial Wharf and Fishermans Wharf (the tourist side). I learned to dive (free/scuba) and spearfish here (before the marina was built) when I was 11. No wet suit, brrrrr.
The last two are Lake El Estero park, paddle boat rental (on Del Monte blvd.) and Dennis The Menace Park (named after the sunday comics character by Hank Ketcham and old TV show) where I played (and fished for Carp) as a child, and where my children played as well.
I was just there about a week ago, and really miss it. Thanks again for the pics.

No problem.
I love Monteray, too. I was actually born in Monteray County, but I've never had the pleasure of growing up there. Yes, there's many vistas to photograph there and hopefully I will this summer with my new A95.
If you have any shots of that area, I would love to see it.

Not to be too nit-pick, but the spelling is Monterey. Monterrey with 2 R's is in Mexico (about 2 hours from McAllan Texas). Neither has an "A" in it.
I guess I should load up my smugmug gallery with Monterey (area) pics one of these days, but for now I only have a few of Point Pinos Lighthouse, Carmel Mission, and some artichokes over by Castroville. I'll try to put more together this weekend. For now...

Yeah...it was late and at that point, I didn't bother to correct the spelling on the city.
My fault.
