As with many people new to digital cameras - I am very confused with the amount of (often conflicting) advice in all the consumer magazines - therefore I am hoping that this website can give me more unbiased and clear advice!
I am looking for a 3 or 4 MP camera (I don't believe I need a higher resolution as I don't anticipate having any requirement for prints larger than A4). I have had a 2MP camera in the past and that seemed good enough - but my biggest problem is with "shutter lag". I'm not sure that that is even the correct term, but I have become so frustrated with missing the picture - for example I took my kids to a water park, and every picture either missed them totally or merely contained the top of their head in the middle of a big splash. The image quality was generally ok - I just missed the picture!
This is my main objective, but I would also like a reasonable optical zoom range - preferably 6x or greater, but I would not be willing to sacrifice the speed of reaction for this.
Finally, as with the majority, I don;t really want to spend much more that £250 - though as my existing memory cards are of the Smartmedia type - I realise that I may have to!
Thanks in advance for any help/advice
