Planning to buy either Nikon 8700 or the KM DiMage A2 but Im opting for CP 8700 because of the rebate. But CP 8700 is still USB1.1 while A2 is USB2, I was just wondering if USB2 (yes my sytem got USB2) is really necessary for digital camera? I ask this because even the new Canon (Powershot G6) camera is still USB1. USB2 device are now common these days, I had iriver player with USB2 for more than a year now. I just dont get why there are still digital camera with old technology USB1.

I never use the in-camera USB; I'd rather use an external memory card reader. So for me, USB2 makes no difference at all. YMMV.

Elite,
I just purchased the 8700 after considering the fuji s-7000. I found it for 495.00 with us warranty, new in box. And I agree with other post about usb2, if its that imnportant to copy pictures from camera to computer, get a card reader that has usb2 capability. Just my 2 cents worth. P.S. if you want the web site for the camera, let me know. John
