Can someone help please?
I have a Sony DSC-P72 and the guarantee ran out last month.

When I turn the power on the lens goes in. When I turn the power off the lens comes out. My camera’s gone silly!!!

Tried changing batters and re-setting but this hasn’t helped. I took the batteries out when the lens went in to catch it off guard. As soon as I put them back in the stupid thing reverted back to its back to front behaviour……

If anyone has some sensible ideas I’ll try them and if they don’t work you can have my memory sticks for free, (I’ll bin the thing and use the phone on my camera).

Here's a list of things I'd try, though there's no guarantee of success.

1. I'd contact Sony support, even if your camera is just out of warranty. They might be able to give you an idea of what the problem is.

2. Try pulling both the memory stick and the batteries, leaving the separate for a while, then reinstaling.

3. Try taking pictures under a variety of conditions, and see if that does anything.

4. Leave your camera on for a long time, and see if auto-shutoff deactivates the lens problem.

5. Attempt a re-set in combination with all of the above.

I do not own this camera, but you'll get lucky with the above.

Thanks for your ideas,

Unfortunately Sony support were not very supportive.
...and the problem still persists.
My camera is soon to be chucked out of a very high window unless anyone can offer up any more ideas
