Here are two photos I took earlier today in macro mode with my SD500. The spider is a bit blurry because the wind was blowing the web around quite a bit. Maybe I'll get a better picture of it sometime later. As always, feel free to C&C.

Picture number two.

I really liked the way this one turned out.

I like the second one a lot. Of course, the first one scares me ( b/c its a spider) and I just could never get that close to a spider...lol...

Thanks for the comments. I really liked the second one as well. I took about 50 photos and got maybe 5 max that were decent. That one was one of the best in my opinion.

I did have to get very close to the spider. My camera lens was about 3 or so inches from it.

Yeah, the spider would have been a hard shot for me also. I think I'd be persuaded to squish it after I took the shot!

Where in North Carolina are you? Boone, NC here.

I'm just south of Greensboro, in Thomasville. I've been to Boone quite a bit though. Love it over there.

Wes-

Both are great photos. But that is what you expect from a SD-500. Want a surprise? Take a look nat my flower shot with the S5i. That will make abeliever out of you.

That's really beautiful!--for the critique part  , I just wish the center part's whites hadn't been overexposed!

Easily the best shallow DOF shots I've seen so far from the SD500...really cool...

I really LIKE the spider shot, even if it is a bit blurry. Can just imagine what it would have looked like with no wind.

Was the first on taken against a window?

Thaks so much for the comments everyone. I agree about the overexposed center of the dandilion. Always something to work on huh?

As for the spider, it was outside near some flower bushes. The web was horizontal to the ground. The background is actually the ground (leaves, twigs, and a dead flower or two) about two feet behind the spider.

I kept PS altering to a minimum on both of these pictures. The DoF is the same as the camera saw it. I didn't blur the background any at all.

Thanks again for the comments. I'll try to post more soon.

Here is another one I decided to post. This one was more of an experiment-with-PS picture. I'm sure you'll see what I mean.

Let me know what you think. Don't be afraid to say you don't like it. :)
