First venture into digital cameras. On reading specs on c-5500 some state not for Windows 98 and connection via USB 2. I have Windows 98 and USB 1.1. Does this mean I cannot use/connect the camera to PC? Well, I did say I was new! Many thanks for any replies.

USB2 is backwards-compatible with USB1.1, so physically connecting it shouldn't be a problem. However, afaik Windows 98 doesn't support plug and play storage devices on USB connections - you stick a camera USB cable into a port on a Win2k or XP machine, and it'll do the rest itself - with Win98, you usually need to install drivers. If it says 'not for win98', maybe Olympus don't make drivers for windows 98?
In any case .. you could always get a card reader and connect it to your PC .. not convenient, I know, but at least you'll be able to get your pictures.
