Hello,
I've allocated $300 for buying a new digital camera. Previously, I owned Canon A60, which was a decent camera but shutter lag was a big problem. Even if I used it with fully charged batteries, it drove me crazy with the big shutter lag.
For me camera size does not matter much, as long as it's not bigger and heavier than Canon A60.
I'm not crazy about the no. of pixels, as I'm not a professional photographer. I usually print pictures of size 3 by 4, or 5 by 6. Once, I printed an 8 by 10 picture taken with my Canon A60. It was okay.
Standard optical zoom will be fine. As I understand, entry level point-and-shoot cameras usually have 3x.
I would rate image quality as 8 out of 10.
I will generally use the camera for taking pictures at home, while traveling, on birthdays, anniversaries, etc. I don't think I will be making bigger prints than 8 by 10. I will be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos. Sometimes, I will be shooting sports and/or action photos.
I previously owned Canon, so I would prefer a different brand this time. But if it's gonna be a better deal, then I will go with Canon. Right now, I'm thinking of Nikon 5600/5900 and some Sony Cybershot models. I hesitate to buy a Sony camera because of the memory card. Memory sticks are expensive than the others. Also, I hesitate to buy a camera that doesn't use AA batteries. I feel like the other battery types may need to be replaced in a short period of time.
Well, that's all from me. Thanks for your help.
Dave
