I have allocated around 300.00 dollars for buying a new camera. Standard zoom is fine. Image quality, I would rate an 8. I'll will mainly be using the camera for my family. I have a 4 and 2 yr. old and 9 month old. I more than likely will be making big prints( more my wife). Thanks.

From what I've read from others on this forum, the Canon is a much better camera image quality-wise than the Sony. I don't have personal experience with the DSC-V1, but I have the Canon A95 and am quite happy with it. Have you read the reveiws of both cameras on this site?

BTW: I just bought a Canon Powershot A95 for $274.00 (incl. shipping & taxes) from Buydig.com. So, $330.00 is pretty unreasonable/expensive in my opinion.

I love my Sony V1, only downside is the battery life is a bit short, love the pix quality, it makes me have an insight on what a sharp quality pix is about. I have tried the Canon A95, personally, I like the V1 better.

Look at the reviews at this site, Imaging resource, Steves Digicams. Compare the images, compare the specs and designs - I like the A95 - but I know someone who has the Sony and loves it too.
