I have been thinking about buying the A85 for a few months, I have noticed several problems listed about the A75 focus, and A95 error messages. The professional reviews I have read have been all positive. After reading this forum I am starting to wonder if I should wait for the next generation of A's. Has anyone had any problems with focus or error messages on the A85?

I haven't had any problems with my A95 but a little purple fringe in high contrast situations. The A-Series are fine cameras as is the new SD500.

i love my A95 and i've had no trouble with it. as far as i can tell, there's nothing wrong with the a series that a good extended warranty can't fix. :) i'm a big fan of warranties, though, so you can officially consider me a biased source. the newer ones, the A510/520, are a little weaker in some key usability features like red-eye reduction and low-light focus.
actually i haven't seen much in the way of trouble reports on the A85 or the 95. are you referring to the E18 error? we've got a whole thread dedicated to reporting AND summarization of reports on that, so i won't go into it, but it really seems to be freakishly rare. (of course, if it happens to you on your first digicam purchase, you're experiencing a failure rate of 100%, and that can blow your perspective.)
anyway, all in all, the A80/90 cameras are very good and since the new (510/520) models are out you can sometimes find good bargain prices on the 80/90's.
