I own both the Kodak DX-6490 and the Olympus C-765. As you know, both are 4mp and they perform very well. We have taken thousands of shots on each of the two digital cameras and have been very pleased with the digital photos. Both digital cameras are now selling on the internet in the $US 340 to $US 360 range.

The Kodak DX-7590 is going to sell for substantially more. It will be about $US 500. The only improvement that it will offer is a 5mp imager. Is it really worth the difference in price? If you still want 5mp, take a look at the HP-945. It is 5.3mp with 8X optical zoom.

the 7590 will not just have one more MP than the 6490...
it's faster, smarter and has tons more creative options!
Plus, it will still carry the 10X optical and 3X digital zoom, and the Kodak Color Science Chip. Once you've seen the pictures this camera puts out, you'll never be able to understand why you once considered another.

Personally I have not seen any digital photos from this digital camera. I will be anxious to see what improvements Kodak has crafted.

Least you think that I might not be very experienced and thus unable to make an informed judgement. I am a professional digital camera lecturer, who conducts workshops for over 10,000 digital camera users every year and I have written and published three books on digital cameras..

Here (http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/kodak/dx7590-review/gallery.shtml) are some samples that Jeff took last month.

I have seen some other full sized images, and it does seem to have improved on the JPEG artifacts from the DX6490.

Hello Cold Snail-

I agree the samples look good. Thanks for the link. I have also seen your work before with the DX-6490, so I respect your opinion. At this juncture, we will have to wait for a comprehensive review of the DX-7590.

However, with the internet price of the DX-6490 appraoching $US 330 and the DX-7590 selling for $US 500, thatb leaves a pretty big dollar difference between these two digital cameras.

I agree totally with Sarah Joyce on the verdict and parameter she used to judge the cameras. Price of the camera should be one of the main consideration. It is not always a matter of delivering quality but delivering quality at affordable price.

Dell is offering the 7590 on their web site for US$450 (that's 500 minus 10% on a Labor Day sale) and this includes the camera dock. Not the printer dock, just the camera dock.

Hi there!
after readiing the review it looks like I should go with the 7590 and not the olympus 765.
