I just bought the SD500 and was wondering if you can put the date stamp on a large format photo. For what I see you can only put the date on the post card setting.
Anyone know?

Yes the date stamp can only be put on the 1600x1200 resolution.

Any idea the value of that. I really like the date on my photos so I know when they were taken. I don't unload my camera everyday and the date on the computer file will be the date it was unloaded. Is that not correct? As well I want to take my photos at 7mp.

The date listed in the EXIF file will list the date the file was taken, regardless of how much the file was modified (as long as you keep that EXIF in when you resave the file, I don't know why more people dont do this  )
Windows XP can also list this date in the Details view of the file view menu.
I hope they add some more catagories from the EXIF information in the future.
Don't ruin the picture by imprinting the date on it, you might regret that some time in the future. Plus it will really limit your cropping, which is the whole point of 7mp. You can always use software to add the date in later (taken from the EXIF information of course) if you really want to.

That is not correct. A lot of info gets saved in the picture file, including the date the picture was taken. It is pretty pointless to even use that feature these days.

Downloader Pro from www.breezesys.com
It's for downloading images from a digital camera, or a removable drive, or any kind of folder
I use the following settings:
download directory: D:\Canon\%Y.%m.%D\
filename: %Y.%m.%D. %H.%M.%S_%r
So pictures taken on a certain day will get to a folder like D:\Canon\2005.04.03\
and images are named by the time they were taken (+adding it's number, so there will be no problem, if 2 images were made in the same second), so they are named like this: "2005.04.03. 15.41.14_0484.jpg"
The software is downloading movies too, and naming them the same way (they don't have exif info, so it's uses the file creation date (and no movies can be done in the same second, so the lack of number won't be a problem))
I found this program after using my cam for a year, and it didn't took me long to run all my images thru this software, and they were all organized at last!
(If you think the $30 is too much for it, there's always the dark side young jedi! :D)
