I've had my A85 for two months and love it. I have aScandisk 512 Ultra II card, and rechargeable batteries.

This afternoon, I erased the memory while in display mode, and after wiping the memory, the camera shut down. When I try to turn it on in display mode, it works for 5-10 seconds and then shuts down. When I try to turn it on in picture mode, it shuts down after the Canon flash screen.

I've changed the flash card back to the 32 meg card provided with the camera, but no improvement.

There is no indicatino that the batteries are the problem, though I've taken over 200 photos with them. I am recharging them now to see if that is the problem.

I'm afraid the problem might be dust. Or a firmware problem.

I've tried to find a way to reset the camera, but so for no luck.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Just like that, it seems like the batteries need to be recharged, keep us informed of what happens once u charged them.

I'm pretty sure this is a battery problem. My A95 doesn't always give the battery warning light before quitting on me. Pop a few AA's in there and you'll know immediately.
