Hi, I am doing part of my final year dissertation on digital camera's and after sales support and would be really interested to find out your opinions on how easy or difficult you think learning how to use a digital camera is and how effective the support is.

The aim of my project is to evaluate whether an online interactive visual tool would be useful for assisting new digital camera users to learn the basic functions of their camera. I thought of creating an inteactive 3d model of a camera that the user could interact with and practice using the camera, while getting some feedback and further information. It would be a free tool, but probably would require downloading a free plugin, such as macromedia shockwave.

Any suggestions on this, and if you think it would be worth it, let me know.

Also if any of you would be very kind as to fill out my questionnaire, I would be very grateful. Its free and only takes a few minutes and would really help me with my dissertation.

Otherwise, if any of you have any thoughts and opinions on the effectivness of camera manufacturer's online support systems please post a reply to this thread.

filled out your survey, but to reiterate:

i think this could be very effective, but moreso probably for those wanting to see what a camera can do before purchasing it. i don't know if i'd try an interactive tool if i already own the product unless i was really stuck or if the interactive tool was very well made and informative.

it would be great if there was a central location where one could access interactive models of all cameras. i think it would make buying a camera much more pleasant.

good luck with your research.

Yes this is a great idea, and is very original. I'd like to see this live soon.
