I would imagine someone would be more than willing to sell you an extended warranty for your camera. But beware, at their very best most extended warranties are very chancey if not a down right scam. All the warrantor has to say is that the camera being returned for repair was damaged by abuse or neglect (warranties don't cover such situations) and the purchaser doesn't have a leg to stand on unless he or she cares to pursue the matter in a court of law.

Exactly.
While the idea of an extended warranty is sound, it depends on the vendor.
Mack Cameras in NY, for example, often refuses to honor their warranty when they deem the camera to have been damaged by the user. It's their call, and you'll probably end up paying them money unless it's a bad camera in the first place.
Looking at it from another angle... If the zoom lens is jammed or the LCD cracked (two of the most common repair issues), your warranty likely won't apply.
I'd save your money, and treat the camera with extra care.
