I have the Digimax 430 and although I know it eats batteries I have a problem that sometimes it wont switch on. It tends to happen when the batteries are at half life. The camera's green light briefly flashes and then nothing, try again say 30mins later and the camera will turn on as if nothing is wrong. Does anyone else have this problem or know of a firmware update?

Change your camera for something better. ;)

I realize this thread is very very old, but I think I finally know the answer.

I have the same problem even with fresh, fully-recharged NiMH batteries; I cannot get the camera to turn on. It behaves as described by "Althea".
but if I put in new alkaline or CRV3 lithium batteries, it will turn on.

I believe it's a voltage issue --- my rechargeables are 1.2V, whereas the alkaline and CRV3 batteries are 1.5v.
