Thanks JonathanWhat are your impressions so far?
I found it a little challenging to get exactly shot I wanted at first (like for two days), but now, the camera and I are one. I never take it out of my pocket...although, with the crap weather in NYC, there's nowhere/nothing to shoot.

Have been using the Ixus 700 for a few days now, outdoor shots are perfect, indoor very ordinary, but then again my Ixus V2 indoor shots were too.

Thanks. I was thinking of trying out the IXUS 700 and judging the high megapixel quality - will probably do that soon and give you guys some feedback.

Hey there JTL,
I think that so far I'm pretty satisfied with the camera.
after you find out how to shoot with it, you can get pretty nice pics. I also got a few tips from someone named "banzai" on the dpreview forums. here's a link to some questions i asked him and the answers of course:
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1010&message=12905972
you can read the whole thread overthere think that's a nice discussion.
The only 2 things that bother me in the camera are: 1. That it gets warmer when operating for several minutes. not HOT, but warmer, it makes me think there's something malfuctioning. 2. The noise on the video mode which by the way is also noticeable in Jeff's review video, you just have to know what to listen to because there's a train going there and it's pretty noisy :)
By the way, have you seen my gallery ?
What do you think of my photos ?
Jonathan.

That camera is pretty amazing :D
I like how I can look at the originals and it STILL doesn't lose any quality. Must be great for cropping. And even on a cloudy day, those shots came out very well. Can't wait to get mine in the mail wednesday!

Jonathan.Yeah, I said is was going to get to you on that one...mine does get noticeably warm on the "grip" side of the camera (do other SDs do that? I haven't paid enough attention).
Yes, checked out the gallery. I like the one of the two swans with necks crossed. I would crop all of the swan and duck shots and show as little of the background as possible...up close and personal is always more dynamic. Another thing to try...it really looks cool when you get down to "duck-level" and shoot them eye-level rather than a 3/4 view. Try it, you'll like the results. Thanks for posting!

Hey there,
I'm trying to understand, what's the 3/4 view that you mean ? and "duck level" ? do you mean to kneel down and shoot them as if they were right infront of me ?
btw - I'm sure you noticed that the ducks pics were shot with low sharpening mode, I think it's really better. - and of course you can allways sharpen with photoshop.
About getting warm, I donno about other SD's hope some other ppl could post on that.
Thanx
Jonathan.

Haven't really noticed the warm feeling yet, but I don't shoot many shots in succession either. Have noticed the high-pitched whining and static sound during the video mode, which is fairly annoying. Also, camera doesn't have the best focus in lower light unless I use flash.
Also, camera doesn't have the best focus in lower light unless I use flash. If you haven't already, turn off the AIAF...single point auto-focus seems to work much better in low light

Yes, that was one of the first things I did when I got the camera.
