7070 (5060?) Flash sync

First of all, hi to everyone as I'm a newbie here!

I've got a c60 and have a problem of a very slow shutter speed indoors at wide angle, it's 1/30sec, this is at maximum aperature too. Nothing I do to the camera (I'm not a camera newbie ;) ) will give me a faster shutter with the flash on at wide angle. If anyone has a 5060 or 7070 could they tell me what theirs defaults too as I'm thinking of upgrading. FYI my film Nikon is 1/125 anda mates D70 is 1/60.

Not sure about the other cameras, but it seems to be 1/30th on my C5050Z.

The default with flash on my 5060 is 1/30th.
If you have an external flash, it will allow you to get different speeds.
In shutter priority mode you can choose the shutter speed as well.
