The Butterflyphoto.com salesman told me that I must use Sony brand High Speed Memory Stick Pro in my new DSC-W5. I was going to purchase SanDisk Memory Stick Pro (regular speed) but he said that it takes 5 seconds to write each picture.

The Sony spec says it has a "read/write" speed of 80 Mbps. The Sandisk spec says it has "data transfer" speed of only 15 Mbps.

I have two questions...

1. Is "read/write" the same as "data transfer"?
2. Do I really need the high speed for just taking photos in my W5?

I had the W1 and the Sandisk PRO was fine. It would only really matter for video, and the Sandisk was fine for recording until its capacity. The salesman was just trying to get you to pay more dough.
