AF-assist lamp on Canon external flashes

Hi :)

I notice the AF-assist lamp on my Canon Speedlite 220EX. Does the lamp help my G6 to focus in darkness? :confused:

If not, please let me know which Canon digital camera models support the AF-assist lamp on 220EX. :eek:

No, the autofocus lamp on the Speedlites will not work on the G series. I believe that it works only on the DSLR cameras. I use the 420EX on my G6 and don't find it a problem at all not having the extra autofocus. Everything else works on the Speedlite flashes.

I hope the new G-series camera would support AF-assist lamp on external flash, E-TTL II, wider lense (28mm like S70). I will buy it.
