sd500 compared to the nikon cp7900

i'm a newbie to the world of digital cameras. would someone do me the favor of comparing these two cameras. they seem to be nearly identical other than size. dpreview is pretty negative on the 500. the photos on this gallery show that there is almost no pf on the 7900 and from my vantage sharper photos.

is the 7900 a better camera, or just better examples?
