Fast Compact Flash cards in Canon cameras

Is it true that the speed increase with fast CF memory cards, like Sandisk Ultra II, is negligible in all Canon digital cameras? I'm specifically interested in the S60. This is the answer I got from Canon's web-based customer support in UK but I find it hard to believe. After all, Canon is one of the top brands. If this is true for Canon, is there a significant speed increase in other brands, when using fast CF cards?

If you look at a review for your camera and see what mb/sec it records video at, that should give you a ballpark speed you should be looking for in a memory card. The X speed rating on CF cards seems to be a 'standard' thing now, so that is also something you can go by.
