Duites and Taxes are determined by Cutoms in India.

The HS code I used was HS Code 90021900, country of manufacture is Japan.

Duties are assesed on CIF (CIF is Cost, Insurance and Freight). see below

For $1000 of equipment, I used 10.00 for insurance and 100.00 for shipping. These numbers are not actual rates, just easier for the math.

Duties and Taxes
Tax Name Glossary
Customs Duty 0.00
Additional Duty of Customs 179.38
Special Additional Duty of Customs 0.00
Duty and Tax Estimate *
179.38
Freight/Transportation
100.00
Insurance
10.00
Customs Value of Goods 1000.00
Landed Cost Estimate * 1289.38

Depending on how you ship the equipment you could also pay a Brokerage fee. Some carriers such as FedEx take care of the Brokerage issue as part of the shipping costs.

You will need 3 copies of a Commercial Invoice signed by the shipper.

go to http://www.fedex.com/us > International Tools for more details

Hope this helps.

Make sure you list description as USED and if the cameras are for resale. If they are not for resale. You need to add a comment on the Commercial Invoice such as "NOT FOR RESALE". You will also need a fair market value for the cameras. If it's a gift, add a comment such as "GIFT, NOT FOR RESALE". You can find a Commercial Invoice on fedex.com/us.

suppose i ship a digicam whose value is 100$ and spend 10$ for shipping. then mark it used and whatever u said.

then how much should i pay for tax and custom duties.

is the receiver pay custom or i have to pay that.

if reciever have to pay than how he will pay. is he had to go to custom office to pay.

like u said there is tax on shipping used digicam but some persons said there is no tax on used digicam's. i am so confused

i am new to this and want a detailed support.

The recipient usually pays duties and taxes before the package is released. The other choice is have duties and taxes billed back to your FedEx account.

It sounds like thecameras are a gift. if they are, just state it on the Commercial Invoice. Some countries waive duites and taxes on gifts or commodities under a certain dollar amount.

go to www.fedex.com and search on "estimateduties and taxes", you can get an estimate of the charges. Make sure that you use a phrase like " camera is for personal use, not for resale" or " gift". This may save you a few dollars.
