Had this camera for 1 week. Its happen 4 times were the view finder goes to a funky colourful blurry veritcal streaking dance....hmmmm...it happens indoors only. IE: last night trying to pictures in the gym, it worked fine till I tried the video option, then it happens. If I shut off the camera for 30 mins. I turn it on, works fine for a couple of pictures , then goes back to the dancing veritcal streaking....anybody have this problem? I looked in the manual and under "symptom". It talks about vertical strikes from bright lights. I understand that. But this more then just a couple of streaks...
Otherwise I love this camera.
Any recommendation on how to fix the problem?
Thx

Streaking can occur with the W1 when there's extreme contrast (i.e., you're shooting an indoor shot, and your viewfinder catches some of the bright outdoors, or a halogen light). The sun can do the same thing.

Sony sells a polarizer for around $60 which should take care of the problem...but you'll need an adaptor, and they're difficult if not impossible to find.

I never get the "colorful" streaking; mine are white streaks that disappear when I find a more contrast-friendly shot.

I went to the Sony store to asked the sales clerk. He only seen this happen to one W1 camera with this similar problem over the last year. Lucky me. lol

I understand the white streak with the contrast. My camera's LCD screen was dancing colors.

So I went back to Staples (in Canada) were I orginally bought the camera and they gave me a new replacement no problem. They were great. They told me I could return it in 30 days if I was still not happy with the camera. Great service.

I will give it another try. :)
