I'm ready to purchase my first digital camera and was leaning toward the canon SD500 becuase of the size, high mp and the color swap feature. My 2nd choice was the A95 primarily because the rotating LCD. I don't really need manual controls. The rotating LCD sparked my interest more for the protective aspect rather than angle shots.

Does a regular LCD scratch easily? If it does get scratched, can it be repaired?

Thanks!

Hey,

I've had my camera for about two years now, and there are only minor scratches on the LCD screen, and I've been in and out of rough terrain. Usually if the LCD is scratched severely, it can be fixed but it is very expensive, and sometimes it's cheaper to buy a new camera  ! If you really want the SD500, you can just buy clear protective covers that people use on PDA screens. Hope this helps.

I know you said you were interested in the A95's swivel screen more for its protection value, but don't overlook how handy it can be for many pictures. I find myself using it more and more in awkward situations.

I find that I am like Fred-

The swivel capability of the LCD makes thing very convenient. If you have it you will very much appreciate it.
