Earlier today, in the "What camera should I buy" forum, I was choosing between the A95 & the SD500. While they both seem to be very good cameras from what I've read online and what I've seen in person, I think I have finally decided to choose the SD500. Now it's time to find the best price.

The deciding factor was realizing that I probably won't use all (if any) of the manual controls on the A95. Too bad I couldn't they couldn't put a rotating LCD on the SD500.

Question: Is there a battery life indicator on the SD500? I think I remember reading that there wasn't one but I'm not positive. I couldn't find one.

Thanks in advance!

There is no battery life indicator on the SD500. A major oversight by Canon that I didn't even think about till you mentioned it. There is a low battery warning indicator. I quickly got into the habit or having an extra NB-3L charged up at all times. Since I'm paranoid, I may even get a third NB-3L and keep it charged also (am I nuts?)

You should never have more than 3 proprietary batteries of one kind because unlike AAs which can be used on multiple cameras and for many purposes, proprietary batteries go to waste when you change camera (Esp. trade ins).

Me, for example, have 3 NB-1LH batteries plus another NB-1L for my 2 Canon cameras. Since I'm trading in my Ixus 500 for the new Ixus 700 (SD500), all those 4 batteries are going to my Digital Ixus (S100) which I rarely use :(
