Hi,

Can any of you digital camera gurus recommend the best 4 megapixel camera under $400 for getting INSTANT (or as close as possible) shots of kids? So often, when I try to get a good photo of my kids, they're in the next room before my current camera gets around to taking the shot. I suppose this all revolves around the auto-focus, so are there cameras that focus extra fast?

Right now I'm leaning towards the Canon Powershot A520.

Also, I'd really appreciate any advice about a camera that's especially good in movie mode.

Zoom isn't so important.

Thanks very much!

Carlwhart-

Because of the Canon A-520 poor low light level focusing abilities, the red eye problems that are quite measurable, and the slow shot to shot times. Personally, I would check out the Kodak DX-7440.

The 7440 is also a nicely appointed 4mp camera with the same 4X optical zoom. It costs a bit less than the Canon A-520, does not have a read eye problem at all and would most probably be the better digital camera to deal with fast moving kids. As a mother of eight I can relate to your described problem.
