You thought oil was expensive!!!

I heard on the radio this morning that Hewlett Packard made more money last year (2004) by selling printer ink than they did selling computers. I can believe it. I calcualted the cost of my last tri-color cartridge as over $6700 per gallon. This was $33.95 for a 19 ml cartridge. Kinda makes $2.50/gallon gasoline look like a good deal, doesn't it?

I have always believed it, but to actually see the numbers is amazing! For a while there, I was buying "disposable" inkjet printers, because you can often find a new printer with ink included for less than the cost of a set of refills! When the ink runs out, buy a new printer.
