View Full Version : Finally got the A95!

After months of agonizing and researching, I finally broke down and got the Canon A95. I was torn between it and the Coolpix 5400. Unfortunately for Nikon, I was not able to find the 5400 anywhere locally and I wasn't going to get a camera without being able to see and feel it first. My professional photographer brother-in-law also recommended the Canon over the Nikon so I went with the Canon.
I was looking at B&H Photo or Amazon to get it, but BestBuy.com had it at 10% off, I wanted it before taking a vacation next week, so I got it at Best Buy. Can't wait to start using it.
Now I guess I can change my name from "Perplexed" to something more suitable.
Thanks to all the great ideas being posted on this forum. They have been invaluable and I hope to contribute to them in the future.

Hope you enjoy it as I'm enjoying mine too from Best Buy also for $309.95. I like it much better than the Fuji E550 I took back.

There was no bad choice in this case. But I will bet that your brother in law shoots Canon. ;)

I know he owns the S500 for quick shooting and to have with him all the time. I don't know what he uses for his professional work. He did say that Canon has better software and chips. I don't know enough to argue. I figured either A95 or 5400 would satisfy my needs and since the A95 was available I went with that.

Good luck and good pictures with your new A95. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine. :)

Thanks Fred. Going on vacation to California. Should have plenty of picture taking opportunities. I'll let you know when I get back.

Welcome to CA! We are enjoying some fine weather at the moment, although it is forecast to rain again this weekend. Any particular sights you plan to photograph?

Thanks EAP. Going to San Francisco and driving down to LA seeing Hearst Castle on the way. I am sure we'll find a few things to take pictures of ;)
