It would be really cool to turn my dsc-w1 into a webcam, I wish there was a way :(

With the buffer of new 1 and 2 MB memory sticks, you might think a webcam isn't out of the question. It's a very cool idea. I'll be watching this to see if anybody comes up with results.

If you have a TV card you can run the tv output of the cam into it. most 3rd part webcam app will let you select a source and tend to give the tv cards as options. This in turn might just let it work out as a webcam.

Isn't there an automatic shutdown of the camera if it is powered on for a length of time?
It seems to be the case with most camcorders.
Probably too much heat build up ..
