View Full Version : Expert on different processors of A95 + A85?

I know this battle between the models is becoming ridiculous, but I guess I'm not alone. So here we go...

Recently, got an A85. Researched it for my needs as an intermediate digital user who is about to travel. I like it. Problem is this camera is going to be my only camera on a long trip so I am stressing on making sure it is the best choice.

Tried an A95 at Best Buy last night thinking it would confirm for me that the swivel and "better" processor (and magnified manual focus window!) are worth the hassle of exchanging cameras.

But I got to say, the A95 seems more cheaply made and less well-designed. The thumb toggle seems chinsey, the "set" button is tiny and badly placed, and even the zoom dial seems more prone to breakage. There is nothing worse than a fantastic hi-tech item that becomes useless because some little plastic button decides not to work (or works sometimes) when you are in the field... where no one understands when you say "Canon customer service."

I'm thinking of keeping the A85 unless someone can clearly tell me the A95 has better innards for definitively taking better pictures.

Or has anyone,in fact, had trouble with the buttons on the A95?

Ooooh long post... sorry. You guys are great. Thanks.

No problem with my A95, its an amazing camera...

IMHO, it is better than the A85... still IMHO, the A75 is better than the A85. But that does not mean the A85 is a bad camera, I think its a very good camera actually. I don't think you should necessarly change camera if you like it and find it suits your needs.
