does anyone know what E:61:00 means or if it can be fixed.

read my post "help, my sony is going crazy" a few down from yours. Maybe the threads will help. Most people said to give it a hard smack but this didnt help mine. Now I'm looking into the p200. Good Luck

I can't speak for your camera but on both the Sony DSC-V1 and DSC-V3 cameras the error message E:61 is defined as " A camera malfunction that you cannot reverse has occured." The suggested correction for this is to turn the camera off and press and release the RESET button. I don't know where the RESET button is on your camera it may be on the bottom of the camera or inside the door that houses the battery and memory card. It's location will surely be shown in your user's manual.
