Can anyone tell me is this as good as it gets with the little guy(pana Fz-3)?I have tried 3 different settings and this is one of the better shots,no post processing just resizing(not sure I even did that right)still learning.I was hoping for alittle more but of about 90 pictures there only 3 that I would even consider.Am I just expecting to much??? Thanks ahead of time!

I am not familiar with the FZ3 but I am sure people that are will be better able to help you if you let us know what the 3 settings were that you tried. I see alot of noise in that picture and that is something you can take care of with Neat Image. Once we see what settings you used we will be able to help you alot more! I have included a copy of your picture after using Neat Image and just a touch of Adobe Photoshop. So you can see what it looks like, if you were curious. As you know it will look better at a larger size than this one.

As was said, I think the original of that photo would cleanup real nice but apparently there is not much light in that gym.
It looks to me as though you could slow the shutter speed a bit maybe 1/125 ( only use enough speed to pretty well freeze the action)
and if you are using a filter, remove it.
Other than using a flash I do not think you are going to get much better photos under that light.

That picture was taken with flash f2.8 and 1\160 with iso at 400 . Your are right there is not much light.I tried to load another but the file was to big .It was taken f2.8 1\60 with iso at400 .While it was brighter it still wasnt very clear\crisp.I do have microsoft digital pro 10 just haven't learned it to well yet.I think I expected to much. Thanks for your comments

I would say the built-in flash would be inadequate but maybe.
I would try a shutter speed of somewhere between 1/80 and 1/125 to see if one will work better.
If you want to Email me the original photo I will try to improve it to see what can be done with it.
I am far from an expert but I am willing to try.

Does the FZ-3 have a bracketing mode? I took some pictures in a gym the other day with my FZ-20 using bracketing of a color guard (flag spinning, rifle, sabre) performance and with bracketing I seem to have gotten some pretty good shots. You might try that next game, then look at the EXIF data of the really good shots and then manually set your camera to those settings for taking pictures. Also, using the fast-shot modes for action shots seems to produce good pictures too.

FYI.
