View Full Version : How many original Maxxum accessories will the 7D work with?

I'm still debating whether to take the plunge and get a DSLR. I have an old Maxxum 9000, and a whole slew of accessories. So, I think the new 7D is at least financially, the best choice. I know the old lenses will work with the 7D, but I'm not sure about everything else. My main concerns are: the cable release, control grip (flash bracket with batteries to speed recycle), and the old series of Maxxum flashes (I got a macro flash last year, and don't want to give it up). Anyone know?

Thanks for your input!

Sorry for the double post.

I fill your pain as I have a complete amateur 7000i setup also thats just setting around. Actually don't even know its value anymore, kinda sad to say.

I feel the pain too. I bought my Minolta 7000i for several hundred dollars, then had to buy ALL the gear!

I also thought about buying a digital Minolta to use the older lenses. But dollar for dollar, that's like trying to save a Yugo because the tires might fit on a Mercedes.

I was offered one hundred dollars for my Minolta set-up and should have taken something for it. They're selling for around that on www.ebay.com.

Maybe I'll save it for a yard sale...

My suggestion is to buy a digital camera with the features you want, rather than the relic gear you have.

Thanks for the input guys. I sent the same question to Minolta a few weeks ago, I'll post back if they answer me.

Cheers~

Hi,
Since I started this thread, I have have gotten a 7D of my own. I've only had it a few days, so I still have a ton to learn, but I did answer a few of my own questions. In case anyone wants to know...

The 7D can take the old maxxum cable release, lenses of course, and old flashes with the optional shoe adapter FS1100. It doesn't look like will use the control grip though, unless there is a special adapter I don't know about.

Just FYI :)

Cheers~
Eric
