Does anyone know how to upload the camera data (f-stop, shutter speed, etc.) with the picture when you save them to the PC? Or if this is possible at all? The manuals are not clear on this, unless I just missed it.

The EXIF data is part of the image file. When you upload to your computer the exif data is uploaded with it. If you right click on an image with windows explorer in WinXP and select properties and then the advanced tab you will be able to view the exif data. If you are running any other version of windows then there are a few different programs you can download to view exif data. One that I saw recommended yesterday can be found here -

You are right - I found this info on most of my prints, but some contained only the pixel and resolution count. These were from my first attempts, and I think possibly I might have used the default Windows utility that pops up when you plug the camera in, rather than the software that came with the camera (SD Viewer). Do you know which programs will copy the data files and which won't? I'm running XP. BTW, the attached is my latest from the backyard zoo.

There are no "data files" per se. The exif data is embedded into the .jpeg file and they are one and the same. If you open the files in another program and then resave them the exif data may not be preserved. Windows drag and drop copying will not strip the data nor will most any other "copying" software utility. I have PSP 7 which when saving a file after post-processing does strip the data and I will be upgrading to PSP 9 soon which does not do that.

Nice bird pic :)

If you save the file in another format other than jpg I believe exif info is lost.

Also lots of editors have the option to save the exif or not.
The cheap ones generally do not but look around for a preference window sometime you can find it when you choose save as instead of just save.
That is another reason to edit a copy and leave the original as is.
