Hi !

Do you think i make a bad buy if a order this camera ?, want it just like a point and shot camera.
Or should i go for earlier models, S500 or S410 ?

haha. that's cool you captured the cranes ducking beneath the bridge. a very similar image is inside the front page section of the ny times. it said that the crane passed under the golden gate by 20 ft and under the bay bridge by 5 ft!

Where do you see the PF, so I can be sure I am looking in the same spots.

Other than a bit of PF (check the torture hallway where it's pretty thick), I'm pretty impressed with the image quality. It'a amazing that such a small camera can produce quality 7 MP shots.

The ones i saw was in the picture in front of the Cathay House...
You can see PFs on the cars, especially the white ones right at the bottom

You know...the brick church picture really gives me a queasy feeling. Not the full size, but the thumbnail and the one in the thumbnail's link. The brick patterns just starts to group here and there and creates a new 'wavy' (or blotchy) patterns... must be the result of compression... it just looks really crazy #_#;; lol. No, i'm not asking Jeff to remove it, or have any objection to it...just thinking outloud. ;)
Yay for purple fringing hall of doom!!! :D

It always does that (see any other camera). It's just the way the compression software for web browsers creates that strange pattern.

Great pics, Jeff :D . I've been really looking forward to this. Is there going to be a review of the Ixus 700 anytime soon? I'm going to get it if it's good.

I emailed Jeff about that weird moiré pattern on the church and just ugly looking thumbnails in general... he said it's just the software he's using to resize the images... it has nothing to do with the camera. If you take one of the full size ones and resize it yourself in a program like Photoshop, it looks much smoother.
