I am going to be starting a business taking action photography at sporting events and I have done alot of research on the camera and lense purchase..... but I am still in the dark about printing. Scenario- I go to the ballfield and take great little league shots. I take orders either before or after I print some samples, so if I print these pictures on a epson or hp printer- will the quality compare to that of having them "developed" at Wal-Mart or such? I don't want patrons to view my product as cheap. Please excuse my ignorance in this area, as I rely greatly on your knowledge. THAN :) KS!!

Photos printed on a Photo rated, 6 color (or more), ink jet printer on good photo paper should be as good or better than wet-processed. That said, for mass printing (more than 3 or 4 of each shot) of 4x6 you definately want to use an outsourced processor. For 5x7 and 8x10 the inkjet would be the way to go. The Epson Stylus 200 and 300 series, the Canon 900 series, and the 6 ink photo rated HP should all work fine. Just make sure that you use the manufacturers paper as well to insure longevity and print quality.

What did you decide as far as your camera and lense purchase?
Just curious.
I take a lot of little league sports action shots of my son.

I decided on the Nikon d70 and a sigma 70-200 AF f4-5.6 APO Macro. I just ordered it today. It was a big step and after all of the research I really feel that it is the right camera for my needs. (Action shots). I can let you know....

With that lense your daytime outdoor action shots should be spectacular. Nighttime action shots and indoor action shots such as basketball will be poor and blurry. You need a f/2.8 lense for the nighttime and indoor action shots.
