Take a look at the sample digital photos that Jeff posted for the new Fuji E550. They are pretty impressive. Perhaps, Fuji, who has always attempted to be the consumer digital camera supplier is on the right track.

Just a correction: I posted photos from the E510, not the E550. The E510 has a 5.2MP traditional CCD while the E550 has a 6.3MP SuperCCD HR. I find it most interesting that Fuji seems to be moving away from the SuperCCD on their lowend and midrange cameras.

I apologize! That was my error. The photo samples were from the Fuji E-510 NOT the Fuji E-550. Well, here is a question then, Jeff. Can we expect that the Fuji E-550 will look even better??

I've noticed too that via the lists and links to Fuji's new announcements, that they are slowly (and quietly) moving away from "super CCDs". Kind of glad here, actually. I think enough generations of these things that have NOT worked have come out, that finally... FINALLY... they're starting to get the hint and moving away from them.
Now, if they'll only learn how to include quality/compression settings in some of the models on ALL resolution sizes.

I agree that the so called "super CCD HAD" cell has not been a great success. However, did you notice that the NEW Fuji E-550 uses the "super CCD HAD.?
It will me very interesting to see what comes of the upper end (the E-550) of their E-500 series of digital cameras.

Greg-
I recently received my new Fuji E-550 and I would venture the observation that with the Fuji E-550 model, Fuji has finally made use of that Supper HAD CCD capabilities. Take a look at the sample digital photos.
