ok, today i picked up my camera and i was playing around with the settings...when i switch between s m and the flower, and scn 1/2, also when i turn it off, i hear this odd sound that i dont believe i have heard before. i believe it is coming from that little tiny thing right in the center of the lens, the one that kinda folds up, and opens. does this happen to anybody elses camera? i havent dropped it at all yet, and have only taken about 400-500 pictures. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I couldn't duplicate your experience, just a
sound when the lens retracts on shut down.

Well, the shutter may be adjusting itself..
Functionally, how is the camera? Do the pictures have problems being taken, or is it just a sound? Any lag/burriness/focus problems?

well when i am in A mode, it makes the same sound right before the shutter beep...and if i shake it lightly there sounds like somthing is moving in there a bit....picture quality is the same and no blurriness, focus also works normal....but i will test it more sufficiently now...what do you think?
thanks
*EDIT
i also get this sound when then lens closes, then after the lens closes i hear it...

When you switch between settings on the mode dial, the camera adjusts the aperature accordingly. This makes a noise. Also, when the camera is OFF, there is a noise that, I think, is the stabilization mechanics. This has been noted previously in this forum, and is common and therefore probably normal. If the camera is working OK, I wouldn't worry about it.

I have an FZ3 but this model shares many of the features of the FZ20. I read through the manual and it says (somewhere! I can't find it again due to the confusing layout of the manual  ) that lens movements and camera movements will make noises sometimes - but this is not meant to be a fault.

Under 'Troubleshooting' page 109 for FZ15.

The camera will make sounds caused by internal mechanical movement when shaken.
Answer. The sound arises when the lens moves.
This is not a malfunction.

Don't know if this has been covered already but when the camera is in program or priority modes, the shutter/aperture will respond automatically to changes in light as you move the camera and this makes a (very cool IMO) noise. :)

That's one thing I DON'T like about this camera. I wish it would stop down only when the shutter is pressed, like SLRs. It just sucks up electrons.
