I have a friend who has an Olympus FL36 flash that he wants to sell me. I'm wondering if this flash will work with the Nikon D70. If not what should I look at getting?

Thanks.

I don't think so, as I believe the FL36 was designed for Olympus shoe contact points only. A general purpose flash (center contact type) like a Sunpac 383 (Nikon mount) will work, but only for basic flash functions. The best way to go is to bite-the-bullet and get an SB600 or SB800 to get the most out of the D70 capabilities.

You should get the SB800 from Nikon. Its got wireless! Praised by everyone.

I didn't pay the full 300 for it. You can get it from ebay for around 210( including shipping) from UrGalaxy or Digital Rev. It is shipped from Hong Kong without VAT and tax/duty. I know it seems like i'm advertising but this has been said at dpreview and dcmag.co.uk
