Wanted to share some of my football pics...tell me what you think. All these were taken recently in West Ealing (london). I'm a student who takes interest in sports photography.
if those do not work then try these
Some nice action shots! I especially like the one of the two guys crashing into each other. The expressions on their faces as they collide is perfect.
What camera did you use?

Reall nice pics! Everyone's expressions are great. I also would like to know what gear you used. Thanks
nice shots! really good framing. the two guys crashing is also my favorite. i shot a few sporting events for the school paper a while back so i know how hard it is to get a good sports shot. it was not my equipment though, and i wasn't provided with enough film for burst mode. regardless of equipment, trying to follow the action while zoomed in and predicting an interesting shot is difficult. so again i'd like to say those are some good pics. would you mind telling us a little about the equipment and settings used?

Thanks for the complements, appreciate it a lot!
I used the Nikon D70 with a Sigma 135-400mm. Lense cost me around £300 and for that money its a gem. Used a monopod and kneeled down (for the painful 90mins of each game). The lense gets really heavy after about 30mins holding it so a monopod is essential.
Used shutter priority and overexposed by half a step.
f5.6 but f6.3 when zoomed at 400mm accross the board for all pics and just made sure the shutter stayed above 500 to freeze everything. And ISO was set to 400. Also used burts of 3-4 pics. If I do more the subject is all over the place.
Predicting a shot is a NIGHTMARE! I just followed a chosen guy for a given amount of time and when he done something 'interesting' or photogenic I snapped it. I never follow the ball because it moves too quickly lol.
Another thing I done was to shoot in NEF/RAW because this way exposure is corrected with greater ease (as well as white balance). Also when I cropped in (luckily I hardly had to do that) I could still print the pics on A4 for my portfolio but I need to edit out the rubbish background.
I don't think I will be taking any more pics of sports at the moment. Its too cold and I cant feel my fingers lol.
thanks again for the complements! :D
