Has anybody used a Metz mecablitz MB 28 AF-4N with a Coolpix 5400? I use the flash with my Nikon AF 35mm bodies. Everything I read says the flash voltage won't fry the flash circuit on the 5400. How about flash coverage at minimum and maximum focal lengths.
thanks

I took a chance and bought the Metz flash. Works like a charm in the hot shoe and with a slave cell.

Could I ask how much you paid for that flash?

The flash cost me $31.50 plus shipping on EBay. I had the flash 2 days after I paid for it. The flash was in the original box, with the manuals, diffuser and warranty card. The same flash was $100 @ B&H. Not everything on EBay is a ripoff.
The are several web pages that list compatible flashes for Nikon Coolpix and DSLR's. The Nikon web page only mentions Nikon flashes. Reading all the information out there I determined that if the flash works with the newer NIKON AF SLR's it appears to work with the Coolpix. The only features missing is the autozoom and a feature that uses the an assist light on the flash to determine exposure. My Coolpix 5400 seems quite happy with the Metz, vast improvement compared to the built-in flash.
Cheers!
