.............. looking for a telephoto lens around 2x for the fz 20 but dont know what i need in the sense of mm thread or adapters. could anybody let me know what i need thread wise and offer a link to some websites? thank you

You may understand but if you use a 1.4 X lens you can probably leave it on all day as a walk around lens as most of those will not vignet past 3X, but a 2X lens will vignette up to 12X which makes them kind of a specialized lens.
That said I have a Tcon 14B...a Tcon 17.. and raynox 2020 pro and like them all for what they do.
An adapter such as this is not a bad choice.

I think it is excellent.. there is no way to compare a 1.4 lens to a 2.2 power lens.
If someone would figure how to stack 2 1/2 14B's then you could compare them.
They both have their points but for the reach of the 2020 there is not much else. I make no claims of being any good at photography but here are some 2020 pictures.
