Has anyone tried this 2X Sony Lense on FZ20

2X Telephoto Lens LIKE SONY HGD1758 4 SONY F828 F717I think the Sony offers "only" 1.7X magnification. But here's a site (http://www.b-300.com/compare6.html) comparing it with the Olympus TCON-17. Personally, I prefer the Canon TL-55, which, while it offers only 1.4X zoom, also allows a much wider zoom range without vignetting. My measurements in the past on the TCON-17 show that its magnification is around 1.61X, incidentally.

The Sony HGD1758 is reported to be an excellent lens and is compatible with the FZ 10/15/20 cameras. It is also one of the heaviest tele-converters available. If you are referring to a different model of Sony tele-converter lens then you might want to check out this lens comparison chart to see if it is listed here -

I think that one word "Like" leads me to believe that it is made by some less than quality Mfg. (not Sony)

I've been looking around and just happen to see this one and had not heard of it before. I was pretty inexpensive like $39. But like someone else said Like I did not see this. selective vision. It's on ebay. I looked at the lenses that Panasonic offers for the FZ 20 but there very expensive so don't know it I will get them. I'm taking Photo class right now 7 weeks into the 9 week program. second classes will begain on March 9 if I can get in only 15 allowed.

I've had my FZ 20 for about two mouths now. I got the Panasonic VYC0913 wired shutter remote $14.98 from Panasonic. Also have the Panasonic UV filter on order. They have been on back order and where do on 2/18/05 but have not seen it yet.

I also have two Pentax ZX 50 SLR cameras one on loan to oldest grand child taking photo class in high school and one Nikon N 80 SLR. Just thought that after all these years of shooting I should learn more LOL.

I would guess for 39 bucks it is made by a outfit like optronics which would make me stay away.

I spent some time on Ebay before I got my 14B and at times you have to read the fine print to get it figured out.

However if it is the Sony 1758 it is a good lens with a value of about 200 bucks.
I found one made by digital optics not worth the 45 dollars they are asking
