72mm filters

I am going to be recieving my fz15 soon and i was planning on getting a uv filter for protection. Everyone complains about 72 mm filter prices and i can see why, but i found a 3 piece 72 mm filter kit for 39 dollars that includes a uv, polarizer, and a fluorescent filter. Im farely new to photography and was wondering if any one could give me some input on these filters. Quality? Good deal? Or if filters are even neccesary?

Filters are not necessary and in my opinion you would be better off with no filter than those.
again in my opinion..
If you do choose to use a UV filter for protection, Multi-coated filters are worth the price. They alow maximum light transfer and less chance of lens flair.

I only recommend a UV filter for protection. Other filters are needed only if you need special requirements in your photos.

Price is only one factor when using the 72mm filters. The other factor you need to consider is the distance the filter is from the lens on the camera. When installing filters they should always be mounted as close to the lens as possible. When mounting 72mm filters on the lens hood adapter you are mounting it a considerable distance from the lens. This may cause problems with both lens flare and reflections from the lens to the backside of the filter which will show up in your pictures. Most people in the know seem to consider it an unacceptable practice. Me, I took there advice and have never even tried it.

It is cheaper to buy a filter adapter, like the nextphoto, and use 55 or 58 mm filters
