OH NO!

I struggled to work through the snow - on my bicycle - today.
I work in Croydon - South London / Surrey England.
My building is situated just next to East Croydon Train Station.
I don't generally carry my Camera if I am on my bike.
Today - I reeeeeaaly want my camera - the views over the Station are wonderful - really moody. People all huddled up looking cold, the station covered in sno, snow between the rails - trains topped with snow - big flakes in the air - I think you get the Picture, but I DIDN'T because my camera is safe and warm AT HOME !!!

Conclusion - should always carry a camera - maybe I'll buy a little tiny pocket job sometime just to always have in my pocket.

Geoff,

I know what you mean. When I upgraded to a DSLR I found I was missing photo opportunities because I had my camera with me less. So I bought a Canon A300 for $75 on *Bay, and now I am never without a camera.

GeoffRecord the scenes to your memory, where they can be treasured for a long, long time. For example, I still remember a snowy day's scene when I was a kid, something like 55 years ago, the snow freshly fallen on tree limbs, blue sky in the background. Still beautiful! Or, seeing a really blue bluebird, maybe a little longer ago than the snow scene, and still remembering the sight of seeing that brilliant blue creature atop a fencepost as my father drove us along the country road in his truck.

Sometimes the camera can be a handicap! :o

I bought my 3100 so that I could carry it everywhere.

I have a mobile phone so that I can be contacted and make contact everywhere.

How many times do I leave the house saying "I can't be bothered to carry them" - more than you'd imagine. Occasionally, I see a photo or an event and say to myself that I'd have loved to have shared it with somebody or recorded it. Then I realise that life is chock full of events and that not all need to be recorded. Life is more exciting when only some events are recorded - it maintains the mystery.

I surely agree with all of the posts. Real photo opportunities pop up when you least expect them. Until several months ago I always carried a compact digital camera. Then, when I started missing excellent low lightlevel/existing light photos I began carrying the Pentax 1stDS or the Canon EOS 20D.

At first it seemed like a "load" but then I got used to it and now, it is just part of my routine.

Thanks for the reminder and "nudge". Like the other posters, I get lazy and forget to carry a camera with me many times. Have good intentions, but don't always follow through with them. :o
