Here's a pic. I took last Sat., in the forest, next to our house. It's a type of "shelf fungi" that grows on the trunks of decaying trees. A common name for them is "Artist's Conk" because you can "etch" drawings on them. This is one of a pair that I've photographed before, but in the past month, a leaf fell next to it & the fungi is engulfing it. Looks kinda like it's "eating" it. :)
I usually prefer to not use flash in my "nature shots" but I've found these conks always look nicer w/flash, especially the water droplets. I used my new Olympus C-60 in macro mode w/ my mini tripod.
