I've wanted to register but the forum won't let me use either my hotmail or yahoo mail accounts (which are my primary email accounts). Any ideas on what web-based accounts work?

That's odd. I just reregistered with another ID using a Yahoo account and didn't see any errors. What specific error are you receiving?

There were the following problems with your registration:
Registration with web based email accounts (such as hotmail.com or yahoo.com) is not allowed, please use an ISP account
Kind of a pain...
Can people see your email address when they click on your profile in dpreview?

Only if you provide it as part of your profile and then only if they click the send member an email link. You can mung it or simply omit if as part of your profile. Personnaly, I am pretty sure every spammer in the world already has my email address so I don't bother hiding it anymore ;)

Now I'm confused. But like Tyler said, you can hide or fudge your address.

I think they do that so trouble makers don't register with multiple identities.

Well there you go... that explains my dilema :(
I actually broke down and registered using one of my ISP email addresses. After registering, I see you can hide your email address.
The dpreview forums (esp. the Panasonic) are huge.

I like this forum for its information base. The posts here are generally more on topic to the use of the camera where as the dpreview forum has a lot of enthusiastic clutter that you need to sort though to get useful information. They both serve useful purposes.

I used to be in dpreview.com but opted out because I find the forum interface very confusing. Jeff has done a great job here in dcresource.com and that's why I defected! :p

Seconded. The forum over there seems to be nothing but complaints about the forum. Confusing, dark and spooky--I went looking elsewhere which led here, to the land of pastel smileys, great reviews and gentle forum browsers. Hehe...
