Never had this problem with a Powershot G2 but here's a problem I currently have with my now 2-week old G6 which Canon itself couldn't help me with:
All shot images are stored on a wireless networked PC running WinXP SP2 with Canon ZoomBrowser EX 5.0 installed. All images and their thumbnails display in ZoomBrowser, Windows Explorer and Photoshop 7 without any problems.
Viewing the images on my wireless laptop and other wireless PC both running WinXP SP2 is slightly different. Some of the images and thumbnails will not appear. Instead, an error in Photoshop says that the image is locked and that I should use Windows Explorer and choose Properties to unlock the image. Unfortunately, the image IS NOT locked. This is very peculiar because sometimes I can open an image that was shot just a few seconds before the next image which WILL NOT open or display a thumbnail.
I've scoured the web for information on this bazaar problem only to constantly find the solution of "unlocking" the image. Once again, if my images ARE NOT locked, why are they not displaying?
My only current workaround is to open the images causing me headaches, on the physical PC's hard drive in Photoshop and resave them. All is normal after doing that but if 40% of my images are having issues on my other wireless PCs, it could get old very quick.
Could it be a ZoomBrowser 5.0 issue?? Previously, I used ZoomBrowser 2 or 3 (don't remember) with my long gone G2.
Any help from fellow nerds would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Don
