Hi,
my nikon 5700 was working perfectly till a few days ago when I last shot some pictures. Yesterday when I switched on the camera it comes on but the top display immediately switches to EV+- 2.0 setting. Pressing the shutter at this point does not take a picture.
If I switch on the menu I can take a picture while the menu is on. Wierd.. but true. But when the menu is off the command dial, the function button, or the EV setting button all just changes the EV value only and I cannot take a picture.

O' by the way I have already tried:
-- resetting the camera from the menu 'C' Button
-- Have reset the firmware
-- Have the battery's full and tried different combinations of buttons.

I am wondering how can this be fixed. Please do write your sugessions.

Many thanks

asit_hobby@hotmail.comOne more thing you could try would be to remove the battery for at least a day, and see if that helps. But frankly, this aberrant behavior sounds like an issue for Nikon's technical support, and probably their repair service. I'd think your camera still has more than enough value to be worth repairing. Good luck!

Thanks John,
I called the Nikon Support yesterday... and hey, they have never heard of this problem. Atleast they do not have any such thing in their database.

They also suggested me to remove the battery for 24 hrs plus so that it resets to the factory default. Let's see if it works for me.

Regards,
Avi
